FIC SUMMARY: They cry for those who have no one left to cry for them.
In Greek mythology, Cocytus, meaning river of wailing (Greek κωκυτός, "lamentation") was the river in the underworld on the banks of which the dead who could not pay Charon wandered, according to most accounts, for one hundred years.

sga_flashfic's Dark Side Challenge. I don't want to give away too much of the story, but it deals with the darker aspects of the Pegasus galaxy which are rarely shown on the show. The story's creepy and horrifying in a very real way, beautifully written and has great characterization. The images and feelings evoked stayed with me for a long time.
