The text is a bit like a puzzle, giving us single pieces of Teal'c and Hammond but forming a whole picture.
I'm glad I got to read this story.

troyswan writes great character pieces. Even though we see only a part of them we get the whole (or almost the whole) picture.

Have you read their Lewis stories?

If I didn't find them on AO3, I don't think I've read troyswann's Lewis stories.
But I found that she/he has a dreamwidth account.
When I'm back from holiday I'll check it out.
