Kicking off my first post here with a list of my favorite gen FMA fics- I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!

FIC SUMMARY: Roy and his sisters, through the years.
RECCER'S NOTES: This is a beautiful exploration of Roy Mustang and his adopted family-- the minor characters are made alive with a deft touch and the characterization is absolutely spot on. I absolutely loved the way intelligence work and family relationships was written together in this fic.

RECCER'S NOTES: Rebecca's point of view really carries the fic-- I just love all the little details in this, like her reading a romance novel on a train or her offhanded comment on her willing to take a bullet (or shoot one) for her friends. A great look at a minor character that really fleshes her out.

RECCER'S NOTES:This is everything anyone could ask for in a Winry fic and more. There's a steadiness in this fic that comes from the author knowing Winry so well and it shows in all the little details in this fic, from Winry casually admiring Paninya's automail, to her willingness to keep going and face the future. She might not have the crazy adventures that Ed or Al have but there's a satisfaction I get from reading this, from watching a kickass girl slowly grow up, mature and find her place in the world.

RECCER'S NOTES: This fic packs a punch to the gut, leaving you reeling and yet wanting so much more. It's a piercing look at how the Ishval war affected the characters and their characterizations as we know it in canon. Wonderful, cannot recommend it enough.

FIC SUMMARY: A holiday in Amestris, a few months before canon begins.
RECCER'S NOTES: If someone had told me that this fic were instead a translated short story that the mangaka wrote, I would have believed them. It features nearly all of the characters in FMA with beautiful characterizations, foreshadowing events that will happen in canon in such a way that I can't help but roll around in sheer glee. It's that good.

FIC SUMMARY: It is said that in the beginning, there were no deserts.
RECCER'S NOTES: The world-building in this is fantastic, as it explores what the rebuilding of Isval might be like with Scar and Miles spearheading the effort. It's short but it doesn't waste a single word-- reading this, I felt like I had but a glimpse of a world that stretched on immeasurable before me. The only downside is that I wish that there was more to read, which doesn't seem like a very terrible flaw indeed.
And to save my favorite for last!

RECCER'S NOTES: This fic fills me with such glee and joy every time I read it (which is fairly often) because it's just so spot on. It affectionately parodies academia in format, content and style and I just love how it's been applied to Roy Mustang's life here.
