Hey, gensploders!

We're sorry the comm has been a little slow lately - your mods have been busy IRL and our last Gensploder of the Month rounds have maybe suffered as a result. Don't forget if you want to sign up as Gensploder of the Month it's always at your own pace, and even if you don't get a chance to rec during your assigned month, you won't be punished for it! You can sign up again at any time.

Speaking of, please welcome back thady for the month of November - the third round they've signed up for in 2014! Undisputed champion, y/y?

November and December are busy months - lots of holidays, lots of fandom fests and exchanges. Who's taking part in NaNoWriMo? Yuletide? Any other fests/exchanges we should know about?

How about recommending some of your favourite genfics from yuletides gone by? Anything themed for those of you who celebrate Halloween or Thanksgiving? It's still a couple of months away, but your Australian mods are always on the lookout for Christmas fic that doesn't involve snow or hot chocolate!

We love you, gensplosion! We're still here, don't panic. Hassle us with questions, pepper us with recs! Chatter in the comments and let us know if we should keep an eye out for any gen fic you're writing! ♥

And I'll start.. maybe not peppering the site with recs, but salting anyway. :) Is here a handy index so a member see if a story's been recc'ed before?

ETA: Sudden horrible qualm - would it be necessary etiquette to ask the writers first? I'll hold off posting for now.

We don't have an index - we could maybe look at doing that through the memories or something at some point - but for now you can browse the tags for fandoms. It looks like our biggest fandom is Harry Potter with 33 recs. If an index is something you guys would be interested in we can definitely look into that, though it's something we'd probably need a couple of volunteers for. We'll keep it in mind, especially if the rec numbers start getting too big for simple tag browsing. ♥

And a light seasoning of recs is always welcome, thanks! ;)

In regards to your edit: I have never asked permission to rec, but a lot of the time I leave a comment on the fic leading the author back to the rec I've posted, so they can read it if they want to. If they wanted it removed, they can obviously ask :) If you are more comfortable asking authors before you rec, absolutely go ahead and do that. It's your call, but it's not a rule we have here. :)

Also reccing a fic that has already been recced here once before is absolutely no problem <3 if anything is just means that that fic is particularly awesome and we should all get off our butts and go read it!

Glad to see a post! I've been super-busy with work for the past few months. I haven't been posting recs anywhere but my own site. :P I miss reccing here, though! Gotta get back in the habit. The world needs more quality gen fics. ^^V

I've hardly even bookmarked anything to rec here :'( I need to go for a wander through my fandoms on AO3 to catch up on any new gen fics! I miss reccing here, too!

Hm, it's formatted a bit differently on my friends page, but the entry looks fine to the eye when I click into it! The rec works, anyway! Thanks for sharing! :)
