True Detective/Firefly: Nothing Changes, Days Go By, by dancinguniverse
FANDOM: True Detective, Firefly
FIC LINK: Nothing Changes, Days Go By
AUTHOR LINK:
dancinguniverse
RATING/WARNING(S): Teen, spoilers for everything in both canons (through S1 of TD)
WIP?/WORD COUNT: Complete | 2599
MAIN CHARACTERS: Rustin 'Rust' Cohle, Malcolm Reynolds, Zoe Washburne, River Tam, Jayne Cobb, Simon Tam, Kaylee Frye, Martin 'Marty' Hart
FIC SUMMARY: “You need a ship?” The voice is a rainbow, and Rust glances up, thrown. Even after he cleared the psych station, everything here on Ariel has been muted shades of gray and brown, hard silver and white. The girl smiles at him from her lawn chair, twirling a parasol the color of her voice.
RECCER'S NOTES:
Don't ask me how this works, but it does, and it's amazing. I have no idea how big the audience for this crossover is likely to be, but I have to rec it. Rust's voice is perfect and the way his synesthesia is woven through everything - it adds so much. I love the way Rust is during his time on Serenity, and the way everything pans out. Really clever, and written with a subtle touch that works absolutely perfectly.
