RECCER'S NOTES:

This fic is adorable. One of my favourite things about S3 was Max and El bonding, and Max helping El develop her own personality. This fic takes that a little further and shows what happens post-canon, after El moves away. The letters are delightfully 80s-nostalgic, the voices are great, and I finished the entire thing with a big grin on my face. A perfect little book-end to the canon so far.

RECCER'S NOTES: So I am currently huddled under a blanket, watching winter rain pour down the windows, which means my mood for wintery/cosy/comforting fic might be a little more intense than yours, but this is soooo good.

Max and the kids go sledding, and there are tentative truces and friendships extended, the fear of what happened over the summer still lurking beneath the surface, but warm cookies and cocoa and found family feelings. A short read, but a very satisfying one ♥

FIC SUMMARY: What if Rick had been a medjai from the start? One decision sets the adventure in motion, but the thing about decisions is that there's always more than one option to choose. Some things unfold differently, yes, but some manage to fall into place like the tumblers on a puzzle-box key, turning round and round until things go click.

RECCER'S NOTES: A canon-divergence AU which interweaves amazing possibilities into the existing story we already know. The humour and characterisation here is amazing -- I especially love Evy, and Rick and Ardeth having to work together with differing levels of faith in their journey together.

There is a smidge of Evy/Rick, or at least the fic ends with the implication matters will take off in that direction, but the main course of the story is on Rick as a Medjai, and how it may have impacted the story and other characters he comes into contact with.

Really clever, and really great characterisation. :)

RECCER'S NOTES:

This is a quick, hilarious read that feels perfectly in character. Everyone's voices are spot-on, and so is the little scheme Jonathan is running. I love that Evy does her best to be moral and upstanding about it, but, in the end, helping Jonathan out of a fix is what she does best.

RECCER'S NOTES:

This is a gorgeous fic set just after the Battle of New York. Natasha is still trying to figure out how to fit into the team, and the team is trying to figure out how to be a team. Steve is adjusting to his new time, Clint is trying to rid himself of the guilt of Loki's possession, and Bruce can't forget that Hulk almost killed Natasha.

It's all these tiny little steps and character moments all winding together to reveal broken little pieces and the attempts to fix them. This is just a beautiful character-driven fic.

RECCER'S NOTES:

This fic is incredible. Amazing character voices, a huge, huge amount of hurt/comfort, and incredible tension and emotion. Shiro learning to deal with his Galra arm, not just physically, but emotionally, and all the Paladins + Allura + Coran helping him as best they can (even when he's doing his best to ensure he battles on alone, goddamn it Shiro). I mean seriously, this fic is incredible.

RECCER'S NOTES:

This fic is amazing. It fills in so much background and creates a wonderful, believable relationship between Peggy and Natasha, and gives weight to SHIELD and its beginnings and its eventual failings, and how it impacts Natasha and the people around her. Peggy leading the way and Natasha coming right up behind her -- yes please.
There are ships tagged but they're definitely minimal focus. The characterisation is amazing and believable and I want more of this so, so badly.

This fic is an old favourite of mine and it was brought to my attention again this week. I checked the archive here and I have rec'd it before but it was FIVE YEARS AGO (I had no idea this little comm was that old?!) and I stand by the occasional need to rec something twice.

This gives wonderful depth and history to Maria and Natasha, and their relationship over time as they slowly get to know and trust one another. Fantastic character voices and an amazing road trip, and it will leave you with a warm feeling of such satisfaction you'll be thinking about it for days afterwards.

This was a gift for me for

chocolateboxcomm - I had requested some Watson & stepkid interaction and one of my long-standing requests is Watson splashing his money around to spoil his kids. (I mean isn't that the point of being a real, live millionaire?)
Charlie's voice is wonderful here and this fic has spawned a heap of head canon for me, which I think all good fics do. The interaction with Watson is sweet and realistic. It only takes a minute or so to read but it leaves me with the warm and fuzzies.

This fic explores all the chaos and stress the Mars family are going through right before we meet them in canon. Veronica's voice is spot on and her interactions with Keith are perfect. It's definitely the perfect set up for the first season and the Veronica we come to know and love.

Fantastic voices in this fic, and fantastic Shiro. This fic really plays with the possibilities of different plants and cultures and what the Galra's reach can do, and the canon reality of planets other than Earth and what might be possible there.

It's perfect and lighthearted and suits canon down to the ground.

One of the most hurty/comforty hurt/comfort fics I've ever read. So much admiration and nurturing and cuddling in this and I love it so much. I think the relationship between Shiro and Lance is captured really well and the voices are great.

This is gorgeous. Homer is so in character and his voice is spot on - it doesn't go too far into over the top stupid, but it points out his flaws as well, including the ones that have only gotten worse as time has gone on, gently steering him right again without changing him into someone else. His relationship with Lisa is really sweetly done, and Lisa is her bright, clever little self. This is just beautiful.

RECCER'S NOTES:

This is somehow not as cracky as it seems. Bucky tries to recover from being the Winter Soldier by hunting down and killing the people responsible. He discovers things like sudoku and guitar along the way and tries to incorporate them into his life as a tactical way of fitting in, but also as a way to just be more NORMAL. It's funny and dark and weird and I love it.
