Five times Shiro’s Galra arm caused him trouble in some way and another member of the team helped him out with it, and the one time the same arm is the only reason any of them survive.

RECCER'S NOTES:

This fic is incredible. Amazing character voices, a huge, huge amount of hurt/comfort, and incredible tension and emotion. Shiro learning to deal with his Galra arm, not just physically, but emotionally, and all the Paladins + Allura + Coran helping him as best they can (even when he's doing his best to ensure he battles on alone, goddamn it Shiro). I mean seriously, this fic is incredible.

FIC SUMMARY: They're all this crazy because it's the only way to stay sane. The 4077th as seen through the eyes of a terrified new recruit.

RECCER'S NOTES: I read this as a newbie with barely any knowledge of the story; I loved it anyway. The story takes place during the Korean War in a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital where all the personnel, from the army-obsessed surgeon to his fishing-obsessed CO to the crossdressing corporal, are a little bit mad. No further canon knowledge is required.

He hadn't even noticed the gunfire until then. Funny not noticing gunfire. Maybe it was the background music. You never missed the important parts of the picture, because the background music always let you know when the good bits were coming. The music reel was broken today. They should ask for free popcorn. It was only fair.

A really sweet, clever look at Phryne Fisher. I particularly love the warm moments between herself and Jack here - nothing overly romantic, but still capturing their banter, affection and respect as though it were canon.

Dbskyler’s delightfully funny fic challenges a few fandom cliches and points out that a woman who’s travelled the universe and fought monsters can probably handle getting home from Scotland without falling apart. Except, much to her bemusement, her would-be rescuers are just queuing up – that is, apart from the one person she thought might try to lend a hand…

RECCER'S NOTES: Faiza first appeared in the short-lived Captain Britain and MI:13, where the lifelong superhero fangirl turned into an Excablibur-wielding magic user. Working alongside some of her favs Faiza never lost that adorable giddyness, and this is a could-be-canon look at how she got there.

Faiza knows who she is, of course, everyone does. "No thank you, Captain Britain," she says, pleased with how grown up she sounds, even if her voice is high and shaking a little. "I can get back by myself."

Captain Britain's lips purse, and she hovers a little closer. "Are you sure?" she asks. "I can fly you right back to the window. Wouldn't you like to fly?"

I really like how humour and seriousness intertwine.

It's got a really nice pace to it and I like that her solo travels are what set the foundation for rediscovering the travels she had with Ten.
