MAIN CHARACTERS: Claudia Kishi, Janine Kishi

FIC SUMMARY: Claudia would always see that night when Janine came to ease a chocolate craving as the first time they really bonded as sisters.

RECCER'S NOTES:

This is PERFECT. Both character voices are really, really well done, and the entire situation is something so easily believable and possible. It's a really sweet moment and I love it so, so much.

MAIN CHARACTERS: Charlie Thomas, Watson Brewer

FIC SUMMARY: Watson wants to give Charlie a gift for graduation, but is it too much?

RECCER'S NOTES:

So today I'm home feel sick and sore and incredibly sorry for myself. What better cure than fluffy, indulgent fanfiction?
This was a gift for me for [community profile] chocolateboxcomm - I had requested some Watson & stepkid interaction and one of my long-standing requests is Watson splashing his money around to spoil his kids. (I mean isn't that the point of being a real, live millionaire?)
Charlie's voice is wonderful here and this fic has spawned a heap of head canon for me, which I think all good fics do. The interaction with Watson is sweet and realistic. It only takes a minute or so to read but it leaves me with the warm and fuzzies.

MAIN CHARACTERS: Kristy Thomas, Jessi Ramsey, Elizabeth Burke

FIC SUMMARY: If you ask Jessi, Kristy may have a lot of strengths but relinquishing control is not one of them -- especially when event planners get involved.

RECCER'S NOTES:

Disclaimer: This rec comes with heavy bias, because it was written for me! And I love it. For those of you looking at the fandoms, I will lean towards the belief that you're better off being familiar with The Baby-Sitters Club characters, as you'll definitely get more out of it if you know what sort of a person Kristy Thomas is. BUT, even if you're not familiar with these characters, this is still a fun read, and it has three of my favourite female characters being flawless.

MAIN CHARACTERS: David Michael Thomas, Patrick Thomas, Watson Brewer

FIC SUMMARY: Patrick Thomas never made an effort to get to know his youngest son, David Michael. In fact, David can never remember being in the same room with the man until this moment. But is biology the most important factor in determining who your father really is?

RECCER'S NOTES:

This is just beautifully, realistically written. I love the awkward, non-explosive meeting with Patrick, I love Karen's little appearance, and I love, love Watson. His relationship with the Thomas kids just gets me every time, and there's a line in this fic which made me tear up a little. It's really, really sweet and powerful at the same time.

MAIN CHARACTERS: Charlie Thomas, Richard Spier, Patrick Thomas

FIC SUMMARY: Charlie Thomas' thoughts at graduation.

RECCER'S NOTES:

I am a total sucker for Charlie Thomas & Richard Spier fics, and this one is just beautiful. Charlie's thoughts on Patrick feel very realistic here, and I like the little hints we get of his relationship with Richard through the years.

FIC SUMMARY: A book is about the last thing Claudia wanted for her birthday.

RECCER'S NOTES: Sometimes big sisters know their little sisters better than anyone else :) This is a lovely take on how Claudia came into possession of her most favorite book ever - and it sheds wonderful light on Janine's character as well.

MAIN CHARACTERS: Jenny Prezzioso, Karen Brewer

FIC SUMMARY: Jenny Prezzioso knows enough about princesses to know Karen Brewer isn't one.

RECCER'S NOTES: I love this fic because it's whip-smart and funny. It's told from Jenny's point of view, and we see her observations not only of herself and her nemesis, but of the other characters in canon. [archiveofourown.org profile] Siryn has the ability to write self-centered characters in a very sympathetic way, and it really shows with this fic. Jenny and Karen come to blows over a replica of Princess Kate's wedding dress, which Karen lets everyone but Jenny wear to play dress-up. Well, Jenny gets her revenge, and in a devastatingly smart way - including the clever use of the baby-sitters to set up her plan. A definite must-read, especially if you like fic about the kids in the series!

MAIN CHARACTERS: Kristy Thomas, Sam Thomas, Stacey McGill

FIC SUMMARY: Every Wednesday at 5:30, Kristy Thomas has a very important meeting.

RECCER'S NOTES: This is a cute little story, told by Kristy, of the part she unknowingly played in helping Sam prepare his proposal to Stacey. [archiveofourown.org profile] Siryn really has a good sense of Kristy's voice, I think, and I was giggling throughout the story as it unfolded. I was only brought up short by the end, when the person Kristy is talking to is revealed, in a wonderfully bittersweet moment. It was unexpected, but not off-putting, and somehow, makes the whole story even more poignant.

MAIN CHARACTERS: The Tenth Doctor and Dee Pike

FIC SUMMARY: "What she does know is later that night, she dreams of a man who can navigate the stars, of fantastic creatures from the past, and of a police call box that can emerge out of thin air."

RECCER'S NOTES: A really wonderful character piece for Dee, pre-canon. One of my absolute favorite things about this fic is seeing glimpses of The Doctor from Dee's point of view throughout her life, demonstrating how time has always moved differently for the two of them.

Crossovers don't usually work for me, but this is one I can buy wholeheartedly.

MAIN CHARACTERS: John, Dee, Mallory, Jordan, Adam, Byron, Vanessa, Nicky, Margo, and Claire Pike.

FIC SUMMARY: No one would have predicted what was in store for the Pike family.

RECCER'S NOTES: This is one of my all-time favorite fanfics. The author really captures all the Pikes' voices very well in this fic -- Adam and Jordan even have separate personalities! It definitely feels like it could be a progression of canon, even though the fic is about the Pike parents divorcing. I love how chelz22 has each Pike kid dealing with the divorce differently, and I especially love how she managed to write such a beautiful story with hardly any dialogue.
