This was a gift for me for

chocolateboxcomm - I had requested some Watson & stepkid interaction and one of my long-standing requests is Watson splashing his money around to spoil his kids. (I mean isn't that the point of being a real, live millionaire?)
Charlie's voice is wonderful here and this fic has spawned a heap of head canon for me, which I think all good fics do. The interaction with Watson is sweet and realistic. It only takes a minute or so to read but it leaves me with the warm and fuzzies.

FIC SUMMARY: After the main festivities are over, the seven children of the Duke and Duchess of York share their traditional Christmas midnight feast. One of Richard's sisters has overheard their mother talking about her plans for Richard's future ... plans that do not please him at all. But Richard has some secrets of his own, and finds an ally in his father.

RECCER'S NOTES: This was a Yuletide gift for me, but it's still a lovely tale of family love for a young Richard III. The seeds are sown for the future, but overall it can't get rid of the warm glow this fic creates.

RECCER'S NOTES: Brief and understated ghost story; a poignant evocation of loss, of grief and of how hard it can be to say what's most needing to be said.

RECCER'S NOTES:

I find Twilight canon pretty unbearable but also completely fascinating. Fandom is often there to fall back on, and it can provide amazing, in-depth character study or backstory. This fic is a great example of that - I love the inner conflict Carlisle battles with, and the setting and time of the entire piece is really well written and researched. (I've linked to FFN despite the request in the author's note, as it looks like the author's site has since been taken down.)

RECCER'S NOTES: We don't know much about the next generation characters, so every author can imagine them their own way. This is my favorite James Sirius so far, he really comes to life here. I love his view on what happened and happens. We see the adult characters (Harry, Ginny, Ron...) through his eyes, and while James is the central character we learn a lot about the others too.

It's a hopeful story about a new future for all of the north, and a better future for Stoick and Hiccup. Also, the dragons in this are clever and well-written.

RECCER'S NOTES:

This is just beautifully, realistically written. I love the awkward, non-explosive meeting with Patrick, I love Karen's little appearance, and I love, love Watson. His relationship with the Thomas kids just gets me every time, and there's a line in this fic which made me tear up a little. It's really, really sweet and powerful at the same time.
