MAIN CHARACTERS: Richard III
FIC SUMMARY: A soliloquy from Richard III, reflecting on his greater and house-specific family legacy.

RECCER'S NOTES: Impressive enough to write a soliloquy like Shakespeare, even more so to do it well. Great imagery.

FANDOM: Henry VI – Shakespeare.

WIP?/WORD COUNT: 2289 | Complete.
MAIN CHARACTERS: Richard III of England, Richard Plantagenet Duke of York, George Plantagenet Duke of Clarence, Edward IV of England, Edmund Plantagenet Earl of Rutland, Cecily Neville Duchess of York, Anne Plantagenet, Elizabeth Plantagenet, Margaret Plantagenet.
FIC SUMMARY: After the main festivities are over, the seven children of the Duke and Duchess of York share their traditional Christmas midnight feast. One of Richard's sisters has overheard their mother talking about her plans for Richard's future ... plans that do not please him at all. But Richard has some secrets of his own, and finds an ally in his father.

RECCER'S NOTES: This was a Yuletide gift for me, but it's still a lovely tale of family love for a young Richard III. The seeds are sown for the future, but overall it can't get rid of the warm glow this fic creates.

WIP?/WORD COUNT: 2208|Complete
MAIN CHARACTERS: Third Doctor, The Master (Delgado), First Doctor, Second Doctor, Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, Brigadier, John Benton, Jo Grant.
FIC SUMMARY: The Master comes up with his own unique version of The Twelve Days of Christmas... and enacts it.

RECCER'S NOTES: As it’s Halloween here’s a Christmas rec. A cracky fic where the Master keeps on sending “gifts” to the Doctor at UNIT HQ on the run up to Christmas. All the presents are designed to kill the Doctor, but, of course, things don’t go to plan. There is also a sort-of-sweet ending. There is a lot of invention in this fic both in thinking up the gifts and the ways in which UNIT & the Dr deal with them. Naturally, the Brig gets impatient and blows stuff up.

MAIN CHARACTERS: Neville Longbottom, Minerva McGonagall, various others

FIC SUMMARY: Neville takes part in a new (to him) tradition, discovers a new talent, and makes some new friends.

RECCER'S NOTES:

This is a wonderful story of Neville growing after the war. Love his interactions with his follow collegues. Now that he is no longer a student, he is allowed to see more.
This is a really warm story, and I felt warm and hopeful and comfortable after I finished reading it.

MAIN CHARACTERS: Tenth Doctor, Donna Noble, Wilfred Mott

FIC SUMMARY: The Doctor misses his mark one too many times, forcing Donna to lose a Christmas with her aging grandfather. It takes a lot to make it up to her but for his best friend, it's worth it.

RECCER'S NOTES: This is a lovely, heartwarming fic with just the right amount of Who-esque whimsy, and the author's angry-Donna dialogue is perfect. It's a few weeks late for a Christmasy fic (sorry) but I couldn't resist this one.

MAIN CHARACTERS: Blanche Devereaux, Rose Nylund, Sophia Petrillo, Dorothy Zbornak

FIC SUMMARY: There's no place like home for the holidays.

RECCER'S NOTES: This is a really lovely, introspective piece, delving into each of the girls' thoughts as they lay awake at night the day before they are to split up and go home for Christmas. We see Rose's sweet nature, Blanche's nostalgia, Dorothy's melancholy ~ and a pitch-perfect Sophia story, right before they devour one last holiday cheesecake =) I never thought I'd find Golden Girls fic (much less anything I'd like!) but this is really great, and feels like a missing scene from the canon.

MAIN CHARACTERS: Emerson Cod, Ned, Charlotte Charles, Olive Snook

FIC SUMMARY: The knitting detective is a rib-stitch man in a cable-knit world, and yet the trials of friendship are less of a burden than he believes.

RECCER'S NOTES:

So, I'm sure most of us are over Christmas already, but I can't possibly wait until next Christmas to rec this! One of my favourite fics to come out of Yuletide 2013, this fic captures the characters' voices and the feeling of the canon perfectly.

MAIN CHARACTERS: Edmund Pevensie, Jefferson | Mad Hatter

FIC SUMMARY: Someone’s been stealing Edmund’s presents.

RECCER'S NOTES:

A really clever fic, with wonderful character voices. The two fandoms blend amazingly well, and the author draws upon both canons to make it work in a way that is completely seamless and believable.
