RECCER'S NOTES: Absolutely gorgeous, thoughtful and sharp exploration of one of the show’s fundamental relationships - that of Snow & Regina, with all their contradictions and complexities. It’s one that’s too rarely covered in fic, and almost never as well done as this.

RECCER'S NOTES: Sara Ellis and Emma Swan are two of my favourite characters, so I had high hopes for this fic -- and they were well and truly met, and exceeded! <3 One of my favourite sorts of fic are short little ficlets that manage to slip in a whole lot of character exploration, and everything about this fic makes me so happy. Their interaction is absolutely believable, and I never realised until I read this how badly I want Emma and Sara to team up for some reason.

FIC SUMMARY: She can still feel the longing of the little girl she never was as she fell in love at first sight with the skyline of a city she never set foot in. Irony, not!Ruby whispers in the back of her brain, can be a real bitch.

RECCER'S NOTES:

This is wonderful - it captures Ruby and her relationship with Granny so, so well, and ties Ruby and Red together in a way really fitting to canon. I love that it acknowledges Ruby's backstory when Ruby doesn't have a backstory, and it shapes Red and her relationship with Granny both before and after the curse.
There are some pairings scattered throughout, but this is a story about Ruby and Red, and the pairings can be easily skimmed over if you don't want to read them at all.

I love the idea that there are Lost characters in Storybrook with memories of their Lost selves. Jack's relationship with Dr. Whale is perfectly explained and I love their characterisation here.

RECCER'S NOTES:

One of the best character-study fics I have ever read, ever ever. The author absolutely nails the complexities of Regina's character, and brings all of her darkness and cruelty into the light, while acknowledging exactly how layered she is. This is from Regina's point of view, and her voice is perfect. Her observations of the characters around her - in particular, Emma - are spot on. Her snark, her banter, her fear... everything is wonderful.
And I am really, really enjoying part two, which is from Emma's POV and just as amazing.
