RECCER'S NOTES: This is the kind of thing fanfiction was made for. To fill in and enrich what already exists in canon and to discover even greater depths in even the smallest things. All we know about the Chudley Cannons from the books is that they are orange, terrible, Ron's favorite team, and on the cover of his book is pictured beater Joey Jenkins. But Roberval takes those tiny details and gives us a team that breaks your heart with its heartfelt warmth.

Best enjoyed with a warm glass of honeyed milk.

FIC SUMMARY: Nightingale, a queer life.

RECCER'S NOTES: It's relatively common fanon to read Nightingale as queer, but this is one of the few fics I've read where it is explored with deft and care. There's a grace that permeates the words, a kind of reflective quietness that makes even the most fleeting details powerful and to be read carefully.

Highly recommended, especially during a rainy day.

RECCER'S NOTES: Betty explores the careful, exacting training in becoming Robin. There's so much depth expressed in the fic in such few words: Tim's drive to succeed and prove himself, Bruce's cold and clinical touch, the ruthlessness and ingenuity needed to be successful as a vigilante without any superhuman abilities. But most of all, read it for the ending, which is so satisfying and so well-developed that you can't help but gasp and then scroll up to re-read all over again.

Hello everyone! I'll be your Gensploder of the Month, with lots of exciting recs that I've scoured the internet for when I should have been studying for my finals. Here's to what will hopefully be a long and exciting June!

FIC SUMMARY: His father wanted to fight for an idea, but that time has passed: Draco is in this war for no more and no less than the art of preservation.

RECCER'S NOTES: This is an intensely lyrical look at Draco the summer after his sixth year, capturing the small, quiet moments in Malfoy Manor after Dumbledore's death and before the start of what is perhaps Hogwart's worst year. It is the beginning of the end for Draco, and you feel the subtle tension in every single word of this incredibly well-crafted fic. Definitely worth the time to read slowly and savor.
