WIP?/WORD COUNT: complete, 1048 words
MAIN CHARACTERS: Georgia Lass, Roxy Harvey

FIC SUMMARY: George gets a day off. She stresses to Roxy about this.

RECCER'S NOTES: George spends a day with Roxy and it's full of character development, witty dialogue and friendship. It's definitely a feel-good fic bordering on fluff, but keep the canon in mind (death and grief are mentioned several times).

For now I'll probably keep reccing fics I got as gifts in exchanges (they're usually the most relevant to my interests) but eventually I'll run out of them and I'll have many others to post. :) This one was part of [community profile] waybackexchange.

MAIN CHARACTERS: Oleg Gan, Zen, Slave, Jenna Stannis, Cally, Vila Restal, Roj Blake, Del Tarrant, Dayna Mellanby, Soolin, Servalan

FIC SUMMARY: Nothing is needed but good company

RECCER'S NOTES: This is a hauntingly unusual and beautiful post-series fic (so, if you don't know B7, beware, spoilers ahoy). The evocative descriptions of the setting, the way it slowly unfolds as to what this is, and the author’s characterisations, particularly of Zen and Slave in unfamiliar forms is wonderful. It does have some brief mentions of two marriages, but that’s not the focus of the fic at all, and it really is too good to omit.

WIP?/WORD COUNT: Complete | ~2750 words
MAIN CHARACTERS: Maeglin, Námo, [mystery]

FIC SUMMARY: A look at the passage to Mandos, based partly on Greek mythology and Gypsy folklore, in which Maeglin gets what's coming to him.

RECCER'S NOTES: Maeglin, one of The Silmarillion's nastier Bad Boys, meets his match in this unusual story. Zimraphel has a unique take on the Halls of Mandos, the Elvish afterlife, with a surprisingly successful fusion with Greek myth. Strong characterisations and crackling dialogue, sharp & meaningful, with a lovely edge of wry humour. Maeglin's final comeuppence, and his attitude to it, are simply inspired! The identity of the PoV character is cleverly concealed, with a trail of breadcrumbs enticing the reader to guess. The setting is depicted sparingly yet atmospherically.
