RATING/WARNING(S): Teen
WIP?/WORD COUNT: No/7002
MAIN CHARACTERS: Original characters inspired by the painting named above.

FIC SUMMARY:

Critic Edmond About suggested, "At forty years old, before one steps on the dueling ground, one might forget to make his will, to write to his wife, or to provide for his son's future, but one doesn't forget to put on real pants."

But About forgets the history that takes an affair from a general insult to blighted honour. Each participant, from beginning to end, lends his past to the careering force of history.

RECCER'S NOTES: [archiveofourown.org profile] MmeBahorel did an amazing job for this Yuletide fic; it's filled with meticulous research that tells the story of what lead up to the duel in the painting.

MAIN CHARACTERS: Albus Dumbledore & Walt Disney

FIC SUMMARY: Albus likes Disney films. He decides to meet their creator.

RECCER'S NOTES: This is poignat and heartbreaking and sweet. Love their interactions, and how Walt Disney reacts to the wizarding world. Love the celebrations of two kinds of magic.

RATING/WARNING(S): PG | No author warnings; some grim imagery, mention of wartime suffering
WIP?/WORD COUNT: Complete | 4700 words
MAIN CHARACTERS: Hermione Granger

FIC SUMMARY: A photograph in an old book sends Hermione on a quest to find the surviving works of the mysterious sculptor who created the Fountain of Magical Brethren at the Ministry of Magic.

RECCER'S NOTES: Beyond using portraits as characters, magical art is poorly developed in canon and rarely explored in fanfiction. In this thoughtful & atmospheric one off, Ignipes invents the field of magical sculpture, barely mentioned in canon, via the works of a sculptor who survived the Grindelwald war. But it's so much more than that: the piece folds in wizarding prejudices and the after effects of war on the survivors. A beautifully characterised Hermione on a post-war roadrail trip through Italy makes the perfect narrator.

My first rec here: hope everything is in order!
